Faculty Advisor

Esther serves as the staff advisor for SAO. She mainly helps and checks on SAO to stay on top of things! She is a double Pepperdine alum and (if you can't tell) loved Pepperdine so much that she decided to stay and continue her Pepperdine journey as a professional staff member. She enjoys meeting new people and truly believes that it's the people who make Pepperdine so special!

President

Ryan Marumoto is a fourth year from Orange County, California. He is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Administration. Upon graduation, he hopes to utilize his degree on the business side of the music industry, working with artists and creatives alike. This is his third year serving on the Student Alumni Organization, and his second term as President of SAO. Ryan spent his sophomore year studying abroad in Lausanne, Switzerland. During his time at Pepperdine, Ryan has engaged in a variety of different areas of campus life, including: being the VP of Programming for the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, serving as the Orientation Coordinator for New Student Orientation, and previously served as the Global Learning Intern for International Programs. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys being with friends and family, discovering delicious new foods, and attending live music events. Ryan is honored to work with all Pepperdine alumni as he helps bridge the gap between current Seaver College students and alumni.

Vice President of Operations

Joell Vaca is a fourth year at Pepperdine University studying international business. After graduating, Joell hopes to work in the business sector of a Formula 1 team in the United Kingdom. Joell studied abroad during the spring semester of his sophomore year and fell in love with Europe. Joell is the president of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and serves on the standards board. When at home in San Francisco Joell works on the Welcome Home SF real estate team as sales support, drone tech, and website designer. Joell used the connections he made through the Student Alumni Organization to secure a marketing internship with the ARROW McLaren IndyCar Team for the summer of 2023. During his free time, Joell likes learning to surf, working on cars, and spending time with friends.

Vice President of Marketing and Recruitment

Hannah Schendel is a third year at Pepperdine studying Business Administration. She is VP of Marketing and Recruitment for SAO and has loved working for them this year! She also works at Vivid Candi, a digital marketing agency in Malibu. Outside of work, she loves going to the beach, surfing, trying new restaurants, and spending quality time with her friends. She is involved on campus as a member of the Alpha Phi sorority. She's always ready to learn, grow and tackle any challenge that comes her way. She's excited to learn even more from all of the amazing Pepperdine alumni.

Vice President of Alumni Connections

Caroline Hooshim is a third year majoring in Integrated Marketing Communications with a minor in Multimedia Design. Caroline is the current VP of Alumni Connections. After college, she is hoping to do digital marketing for real estate and/or event marketing for sports entertainment. Some hobbies that she loves to do in her free time are playing tennis, thrift at flea markets, creating Spotify playlists, and designing photomontages. Lastly, one fun fact about Caroline is that Taro milk tea is her favorite boba drink.

Vice President of Special Events

Cierra Villanueva is a fourth year at Pepperdine. Cierra is a business major and is interested in entrepreneurship and marketing. Cierra is the Vice President of the Special Events team for the Student Alumni Organization board. She aspires to be an entrepreneur someday and start her own company. She loves school and learning; but also enjoys hanging out with friends and family when she has downtime. Watching sports, thrifting, and car meets are some of her favorite hobbies.
